A bit of history |

PROTAGONISTS OF THE LAST CENTURY
Started in 1909 as Western Electric Italiana, the
present INDUSTRIE DIAL FACE (IDF) is crossing its first century
within the Telecom history. IDF was therefore active just
after the first introduction of the telephone sets and has
been since today traditionally involved with technology, focused
on R&D and Manufacturing.
The key milestones of our Company's evolution are shorted
hereafter.
In 1930 it becomes a Division of the Italian Group FACE (Fabbrica
Apparecchiature per Comunicazioni Elettriche) and in 1950
FACE STANDARD enters the ITT (International Telegraph &
Telephone) Corporation. During the industrial reconstruction
after the second world war, with its subsequent economic expansion,
FACE STANDARD is a real protagonist of the telecommunications
development, with a significant increase of its design and
manufacturing capabilities in the Center and South of Italy.
After the merging of ITT and ALCATEL, in 1989, the two Corporations
activities in the Business Area (terminals and private systems)
are consolidated in a single company, ALCATEL DIAL FACE. In
1998 DIAL FACE breaks off as a separate Company dedicated
to phone sets, network terminations and systems for SMEs (Small
Medium Enterprises), carrying all its technological heritage,
always on the competition edge and grown over a century of
advanced telephony.
FITTING THE NEW MILLENNIUM
From 2001 we are engaged with the optimisation of our industrial
and human assets and in 2003 -with the new "IDF"
logo (INDUSTRIE DIAL FACE)- the Company continues its path
toward the digital telecommunications, by designing more products,
particularly tailored to cope with new styling trends, ergonomic
comfort and features innovation: in one word in "harmony"
with European Operators requirements and User preferences.
The new strategy for advanced projects does reinforce our
traditional terminals and systems portfolio made of a wide
range of models for the Italian and Export markets and it's
duly focused on products for the so called Value Added Services
(VAS), capitalizing over the public wired network potentials.
Indeed ISDN terminations (NT1 Plus) and ADSL Modems, Access
or Residential Gateways are today essential to satisfy the
modern demand for safe and secure multi-media communications,
at higher speed.
In addition, our cordless terminals - based on the European
standard DECT/GAP - and our systems for SoHo professionals
(Small Office Home Office) are able to fit the growing need
for mobility and efficiency of the most of the End Users.
These products are also opening the door to the coming IDF
products, based on other technologies, such as WiFi.
